It smells of smoke, wet grass, and something ancient, like a fairy tale whispered around a campfire. The air is buzzing with drums, sparks are flying into the sky like a swarm of startled fireflies. Everything around is moving in a wild dance: the forest, the wind, the shadows. It seems even the sky is playing along: it rumbles, laughs, unleashes thunder, as if keeping time with the celebration that existed long before humans and will continue after. The fire greedily licks the night, and the river holds its breath so as not to scare away the fate cast into the water along with the wreath. Everything here is a game and a ritual, fear and delight mixed together. Perun descends from the clouds, Veles whispers from beneath the earth, and in the eyes of the dancing ones, what cannot be explained in words is reflected. And if someone dares to jump through the flames, perhaps they will truly be reborn, purified, scorched, but alive.
