On the outside, there is a smile, makeup, and confidence that everything is under control. On the inside, there is a tiny fire that refuses to go out. Someone is laughing, someone is kissing someone else, and the heart pretends that it doesn't care, even though it is playing its own personal drum and bass to the rhythm of tears and guilt.

This is a case where pride and pain live in the same flat, but in different rooms. One turns up the music louder, the other quietly remembers how it all was. And even if it seems from the outside that everything has been overcome, it's just not worth looking too closely into the eyes. There's still an afterparty of broken feelings going on there.
