Changes

Sometimes closeness disappears not with a scandal, but quietly - like warm steam from a mug, when conversation suddenly becomes polite rather than lively. Everything seems to be the same: the same faces, the same habits, even the laughter sounds familiar. Only now there is air between the words - thick, transparent, impenetrable.

It seems that we simply grew up, simply went our separate ways, simply let time sort out our feelings - neatly, but irrevocably. And yet, somewhere inside, the old ‘hey, you’ echoes, as if the connection is still there, just slightly dusty. Maybe that's what growing up is all about - not knowing why everything has changed, but still feeling that nothing is lost, it's just different now.
