Description

It smells of burnt dust from the road, petrol and self-respect. Once upon a time, everyone decided that if a guy had tattoos and a hoarse laugh, then he was bound to be trouble. But time has shown that trouble is just him, only with a deep voice and money for petrol. Yes, now instead of a dirty pickup truck, he may have a private jet, but his hands still itch to drive it into a swamp - so that the wheels get stuck and the engine roars like an old friend.

The song expresses the confidence of someone who is not pretending to be new. It's the same whisky, the same wind from the open window and the same stubborn belief in oneself. It's just that now the beat is a little louder and the stage is a little bigger. But inside, everything is the same: dirt under the fingernails, fire under the skin and that very accent that family members recognise from a thousand others.

Original

He's got tattoos, he's bad news

Yeah, that's all anybody's ever said about me

And, yeah, I like to cut loose and smoke too

And you might think I chose this way of livin', no, but it chose me

You can hear me comin' with a 6.2 hummin'

Guns 'N Roses bumpin' through a 12 in the floor

I don't need me nothing but a spot out in the country

I smile when they say that I ain't me anymore

Ain't a thing changed 'round here but the money

You try to mix it up, but let me tell you something

Same liquor in my Dixie, same rowdy bunch with me

I'll be laid up in the dirt before you еver take it from me

So takе the boy out the truck, take the boy out the mud

Put him up in a PJ, he'll still try to get them 40s stuck

So line 'em up, turn it up and keep it runnin'

Say whatever you want, but I'm anything but new to country

Without a doubt, I've been around

Yeah, everybody knows my name when I show up now

I've been from New York to L.A. and every place in between

But they don't do it like we do it in my hometown

Ain't a thing changed 'round here but the money

You try to mix it up, but let me tell you something

Same liquor in my Dixie, same rowdy bunch with me

I'll be laid up in the dirt before you ever take it from me

So take the boy out the truck, take the boy out the mud

Put him up in a PJ, he'll still try to get them 40s stuck

So line 'em up, turn it up and keep it runnin'

Say whatever you want, but I'm anything but new to country

Ain't a thing changed 'round here but the money
