This is how longing for a past love sounds, if it had a sense of humour and a pair of bright beads as a memento. Everything seems homely: the merjele, the plăcințele, and the knitting needles gathering dust somewhere in the corner - but my hands won't move while ‘să te bată Dumnezeu’ is spinning around in my head. And even if the words contain resentment with a hint of humour, and the voice has that grumpy, tender ‘eh’ when you're tired of being angry and it's awkward to be bored.

The music here is like a village kitchen after a storm: everything is scattered, but the cosiness remains. You dance out of spite, sing out of memory, live on despite everything. Because, no matter how you look at it, the love that is rejected aloud still rushes around inside like a piece of jewellery - the kind you no longer wear but cannot throw away.
