Kein Vorbei

The concrete beneath my feet sounds louder than my heart, as if the street itself has decided to confess its pain. Heavy footsteps tear through the air, raindrops mark time more accurately than any clock, and it seems as if the space itself is whispering other people's secrets through the walls. The music is composed of the pulse of the city, of muffled echoes and tense silence, in which every breath turns to smoke.

There is a sense of ending in this, but not a catastrophic one - rather an inevitable one, like when an old clock suddenly stops ticking and you realise: yes, even eternity can come to an end. And then all that remains is to move on, silently, as if walking on ashes, carrying with you the echo of what has long since passed.
