Good Boy

It's like watching a parade of big bosses who climb to the top with such pomp and circumstance that they forget to breathe. Solid suits, important faces - but in reality, their tails are tucked in, their eyes are empty, and their mouths are open only to repeat other people's commands. They drink power like sea water: greedily, to the last drop, and still suffer from thirst.

There is something both comical and terrifying about this: loyalty without reward, service without meaning. Even the dog at the gate looks smarter - at least he won't bark at salt water, knowing that it will only make things worse.
