Description
The sweet smell of mint tea and roasted meat in the backyard - it's like pressing the ‘rewind’ button, and images from the past spill into your memory like old VHS recordings. Laughter on the porch, a controversial neighbourly incident, your grandmother's smile, which you can no longer ask about... There is no pathos or glamour in this stream of memories - just a simple life where a limousine sits next to a burnt-out stove, and the greatest lessons come not from books but from family gatherings.
The music gently preserves this feeling: a little sad, a little festive, with that warm irony that comes when you realise that everything of value was already close at hand. All that remains is to live again, love again, and collect more little ‘we were there’ moments.

Original
There's one thing that we all share, and that is family"
"You see with the love of family, we can achieve"
Gulf Stream, I ain't talkin' bout the gulf that's under Tennessee
I'm talkin' bout the kind that slide high with two wings
Member Auntie picked me up in the dirty limousine
Think I was 7 then going on 17
Growin' up we never could afford expensive things
That's why what money can't buy is more real to me
My whole fam came together just to raise me
I know I'm home when I smell Aunt Polly sweet tea
And all those sweet, sweet, memories
It's all comin' back to me
Oh, it's all comin' back
Like I was just there, I was just there
Time goes by
Feels like I was just there, I was just there
Drive by an old house like we was just there
Damn, Uncle Leroy killed that man on the front porch
Last time I got to see him was in '94
Marshall burned his hand down on the blow torch
My cousin got sent out the road no airport
Just a long, long, line with the escort
Thinkin' 'bout that mission now was too late and you can't abort
It make you really reconsider in life what's important
It make you really reconsider what you do it for
What you do it for
What you love more, what would you miss more
All the memories, or the times not remembering
And we can't take it back so really we gotta live again
Yeah, yeah, like what you do it for?
What would you miss more? What would you love more?
All the memories, all the times, now I'm remembering
Can't take it back so really we gotta live again
Yeah, my granny never even cuss 'til she got Alzheimer's
Uh, real GOAT, greatest of all timers
I can't remember a time when I ain't see her smiling
I never thought that I'd be here today livin' without her
I know she looking down on me, and she so proud
Alabama roots on the Georgia border
Back to back station wagons to Miami Florida
Walkie-talkie lose service when we cross the water
No cell phone, just a Motorola
Uncle Bob on the grill, errybody coming over
It's a party where we at? Hands up baby
Thank God for all of y'all, I bet it all on you
And all those sweet, sweet, memories
Sweet, Sweet
We was just there, we was just there
Time goes by, feel like
We was just there, we was just there
We was just there, we was just there
Granny on the front porch in the rocking chair
Like, We was just there, we was just there
On the corner bussin' plates, we was just there
Sunny days, through the rain, we were still there
Sweet, sweet, memories
Sweet, sweet, memories
Now it's all comin' back to me, this time (it's all comin' back)
Can't take it with you so you gotta go and spend it
I'ma show you how we livin' through them blocks when we spinnin'
'Cause the truth is, we all got time limits, so I gotta live it up right now
And God be the witness for ya
