HEART AWAY

A party too loud inside my own head: someone else's laughter plays, faces flash by, and my memory stubbornly plays a track about ‘us.’ It seems like it's all over, but your body reacts like a fire alarm - a sickeningly familiar voice bursts out of the speakers of a random speaker. And even though you can dance in the dark, hide your eyes and pretend that it doesn't matter anymore, your heart still whispers a panicked plea: ‘Just don't give him to someone else.’
