When You Left

It sounds like a night-time road after rain – the asphalt glistens, the windows are fogged up, and thoughts are confused by their own reflections. The words convey that feeling when your heart is stuck somewhere between love and anger, unable to move in either direction. The melody pulls, as if someone started an engine inside your chest and pressed the pedal to the floor, but the road still leads you astray. The lights seem to be shining, but each light burns with emptiness. Everything went ‘left’ when the familiar suddenly disappeared along with the one who knew how to keep balance.
