The conversations ended long ago, but their echoes still linger in the room. Tears are okay, but not according to the old scripts. Dancing is okay too, but not together anymore. Each chorus sounds a firm ‘not with me,’ and there is a strange lightness in this detachment: as if it has finally become clear that the roads are diverging, and it is better to celebrate this farewell than to get bogged down in unnecessary attempts again.
